I do worry about the 'death of the High Street' and the environmental impact of all these deliveries to our doors given that polluting distribution is such a major factor ... but then, I am lucky and can walk to local shops.

Yes I agree, but unfortunately there’s not a lot of high streets that have independent shops anymore anyway. I do think about the deliveries too - always try to buy the bulkier things in one go to have less deliveries. And at least choosing independent brands with higher ethical standards puts some positivity on the scales.

Just found them, a week ago!

Thanks for sharing such a pity that some of these are UK only. Big fan who gives a crap though!

Emily Gussin's avatar

Yes sorry, they’re alll things I actually use so mostly British companies. Where are you based Aoife?

Oh didn’t mean for you to apologise! I just meant it’s a pity they only ship in the UK especially as I’m in Ireland 😊 I tried making my own surface cleaner and glass cleaners before but the latter streaked and didn’t clean properly and I just wasn’t confident the former was really cleaning!

Yes I know what you mean about the DIY cleaners. Bower ship to Northern Ireland so maybe they’d expand to Ireland too if there’s a market

Great list, I'll look into that deodorant! We also have a subscription to Pip & Nut because I go through 1kg of peanut butter a month at minimum. Another B Corp 😊

Oh I love the Pip & Nut peanut butter and regularly buy the 1kg tubs. I’ll have a look into that - thanks for the tip!

I've been meaning to get a loo roll subscription from Who Gives a Crap for ages. Thanks for the reminder! A veg-bag enthusiast over here already too!

A perfect! There’s also a 15% off code for the toilet roll

Thanks for these - really useful. I have a WGAC subscription and I love not having to think about buying toilet paper. Will be adding cleaning products and beans too! Can I also give a shout out to old-school milk deliveries if you have a dairy near you? We use Morton’s in north London and, again, it’s nice not to have to think about buying milk and good to know the bottles get endlessly reused. Plus they look nicer in the fridge/on the breakfast table than a plastic carton!

Emily Gussin's avatar

Ah yes I’ve not found a milk delivery that comes to our area, I usually just add it to our Riverford, but I’ll have a look at Morton’s. Thanks!
